Profile

A voice trained twice over

Mallika Suryadevara singing at a studio microphone under stage lighting

Mallika Suryadevara is a junior in the voice program at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where she studies Western classical opera and musical theater, with minors in technology‑aided composition, music production, and piano.

She grew up in Frisco, Texas, learning Carnatic music under established gurus while taking Western classical training in parallel — a dual education she has never set down. Through her school years she sang with the Children's Choir of Greater Dallas, performing regularly at the Meyerson Symphony Center alongside the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. She has since studied at Juilliard's summer program and been selected for the Bel Canto in Tuscany young artists program in Italy.

Her range is unusually wide for a conservatory singer: a four‑hour Telugu solo recital in Hyderabad, more than twenty professionally produced independent recordings, national anthem performances at sporting events across Dallas, and a standing place among the top finalists in Texas All‑State voice competition.
